what to look out for:
• The car pulling to the left and right
• Uneven tyre wear
• a crooked steering wheel
• car meandering on the road
There are many workshops offering all kinds of cheap or even free alignment checks. These companies use very basic systems which does not do 4 wheel alignment or allow for run out compensation (taking account for any errors in the wheel rim), so their reading result can only, at best, very approximate. Save your time, money and hassle by taking the time to read our information and you will then have all the info you need, to make an informed decision to come into us.
Incorrect alignment results in rapid irregular tyre wear, excessive fuel use, poor tyre mileage and can even affect the handling and safety of the vehicle.
Wheel alignment can be affected over time, by sppedbumps, driving against a kerb, hitting a pothole in the road or by excessive wear to steering or suspension components. Alignment of wheels and tyres to the specification required by your vehicle is an important way to guarantee a smooth ride and to get the most out of your tyres/investment.
The direction and angle at which tyres are set are both important. Wheel alignment or 'tracking' involves checking the direction and angle against the specific vehicle manufacturers' specifications. These are often described as toe in, toe out, positive camber or negative camber.
"Toe" refers to whether the front of the tyres are closer or further apart than the rear of the tyres. Different types of vehicles need different toe settings to allow for the way that wheels pull either towards each other or apart.
"Camber" is the inward or outward tilt of a tyre. The camber is set by the vehicle manufacturer, and can be affected by potholes in the road and may need to be adjusted periodically.
The benefits are numerous and in today’s economic times, should not be ignored, as they will save you money and keep you safe from the day iot is actioned:
Reduced Tyre Wear
Improper alignment is a major cause of premature tyre wear. Over the years, a properly aligned car can add thousands of miles to tyre life.
Improved Fuel Consumption
Fuel consumption reduces as the drag on the tyres (rolling resistance) decreases. Four wheel alignment sets the wheels straight/parallel, which along with correct tyre pressures, minimises the rolling resistance.
Saves Money & Environment
By preventing premature tyre wear (and early tyre disposal) and improving fuel economy/ CO2 emissions, it not only reduces the cost of motoring - putting more money in your pocket, but helps the environment too!
Improved Handling
Many handling problems can be corrected by four wheel alignment, giving you the driver a better and enjoyable driving experience.
Safer Driving
Misalignment will make the car less stable when taking emergency or evasive action. A suspension system inspection is part of an alignment procedure, therefore potentially allows worn parts to be spotted before they cause a a more costly problem.
As we explained from the start, we will visually check your alignment and suspension parts FREE OF CHARGE. No catches!
Drive into us and we will professionally check your alignment and suspension parts FREE OF CHARGE, with no obligation and no appointment necessary.
If alignment is needed, there are various methods that read the geometry, to determine the problem, and all cars are different: (note: we print out the before/ after reading once work is completed):
option 1:
Prices:
2 wheel €25.00 incl vat.
4 wheel €35.00 incl vat.
The cheapest and quickest fast fit trade option, is the laser alignment system.
These readings are approximate, but will pass an nct. No print out available.
option 2:
Price is €40.00 incl vat.
Computerised Two Wheel alignment is the measurement of the front wheels on modern cars. The results show no concern for any other angles. Angles measured: THREE. Detailed print out of adjustments included. Recommended by vehicle manufacturers.
option 3:
Price is €60.00 incl vat.
Computerised Four wheel alignment will use the rear wheels as a scale, in an attempt to find the cars true centre line, and in most cases this will ensure that the steering wheel is centred after the adjustments. Angles measured: SIX. Detailed print out of adjustments included. Recommended by vehicle manufacturers.
option 4:
Prices start from €80.00 incl vat.
Computerised Full geometry will give a global image and allow for a total reference of all the angles that support your car. Angles measured: fifteen +. specific to high performance (porsche), supercars (aston), unique alignment procedures (e.g. weights added), or problem handling cars. Detailed print out of adjustments included. Recommended by vehicle manufacturers.
